Glendale’s Arrowhead Lakes is as sought after an area as any in all of Maricopa County. The community is comprised of just over 1,000 family homes and no less than 140 acres of lakes, giving the entire community a sense of being on the waterfront or near water. In fact, no less than 75% of homes are lakefront. Its location and unique natural setting, where waters abound everywhere, make it an area specifically desired by many wishing to buy property that is secluded and peaceful whilst still being close to the cities of Glendale and Phoenix. Arrowhead Lakes in Glendale offers the very best in upmarket, waterside living.
It’s little wonder that this beautiful community was voted “Best Place to Live” by Phoenix Magazine in 2012. This is a community in which sedate living and sports and recreation on the various canals and small lakes coexist in perfect harmony. Residents here can enjoy both stunning waterfront views and vistas of the nearby mountain ranges. There are a number of walking and biking trails to be enjoyed, including those at Thunderbird Preserve. There are also an array of top-notch golf options at either The Legend of Arrowhead or Arrowhead Country Club.
It’s worth noting that Arrowhead Lakes is an ingeniously planned community that was developed by various master builders in the late 1990s. The attention to detail in planning can be seen in the interesting mix of single-level and double-storey homes, as well as stunning custom-designed properties, that one finds in this community. Property values in this very select Glendale community range from the mid-$200,000s to well over $1-million. This community’s property values are in keeping with the robust and upward trend for the property sector in the Glendale and greater Phoenix areas.
This community’s children are well catered for with regard to the education that they can receive. Schools in the area include Legends Springs Elementary School, Hillcrest Middle School and Mountain Ridge High School, all of which fall under the Deer Valley Unified School District (DVUSD). This well-regarded school district serves approximately 34,000 students a year, with a total of thirty-eight schools within the district. DVUSD has many ‘A-rated’ schools, with local students earning scores of 3 or more on AP exams.
Economically, the community is intrinsically linked to the local economies of Glendale and greater Phoenix, which are economies that are generally outperforming most of the country in terms of growth and opportunities. Glendale is Arizona’s sixth largest city and is known as “Arizona’s Antique Capital,” which is in keeping with the city being a thriving retail and services hub. Healthcare is also a major employer in the city, with other notable sectors including public works, aerospace and the military, thanks to the nearby Luke Air Force Base. Higher education is also a key sector in Glendale, given that it is home to Midwestern University, which is metropolitan Phoenix's first medical school, as well as Arizona State University (ASU)’s Thunderbird School of Global Management, which is a major post-graduate international business school.
The community is conveniently located just north of the Loop 101 Freeway. Routes into the center of Glendale using either the US-60 E freeway via the Loop 101 or all the way on N 51st Avenue should take 25 minutes or less. For those working in or needing to get to the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport it’s probably best to take the I-17 S freeway, for a drive that will take 27-35 minutes depending on traffic. The same freeway will get you into Tempe in about 35-42 minutes.
