In November 2013 the Cave Creek Town Council voted to adopt "Where the Wild West Lives" as the town motto. That should tell you everything about Cave Creek. This small hamlet of just over 5,000 residents is situated in the majestic Sonoran Desert about 27 miles northeast of Phoenix (and right next door to the charmingly named Carefree). Although considered a suburban community, it offers a natural setting and sweeping vistas that are distinctly rural and very much ‘western’. Also very well known as a resort and destination city Cave Creek is well known for second homes and vacation homes.
One chooses to live in Cave Creek because one wants a specific lifestyle. It’s a laidback and healthy lifestyle that includes clean, crisp mountain desert air and some of the most dramatic and arresting scenery in all of Maricopa County. All types of people can enjoy their life and home in Cave Creek, from the athletic thrill-seekers and adventurers wanting to explore the surrounding desert and mountains to those simply wanting a more peaceful and relaxing lifestyle in a small, tightly-knit community that always feels welcoming and very safe.
Cave Creek continues to grow and has much room for growth. That is why it offers an amazing diversity of properties, ranging from family homes of $250,000 to $500,000 to more luxurious properties priced at more than $700,000, not to mention some superlative and sprawling estates, many of them well above $2-million. Also exciting in Cave Creek is that there are still many prime plots of land waiting to be snapped up by savvy buyers, ranging from under an acre for less than $200,000 to lots of 4 acres or more at $400,000 and up. Cave Creek is a property market with tremendous scope and exciting possibilities, offering a range of options for buyers of all budgets and property needs.
Cave Creek Unified School District (CCUSD) is the school district that serves the communities of Cave Creek and Carefree. It operates Cactus Shadows High School, Sonoran Trails Middle School and five elementary schools in the area, two of which located in Cave Creek, Desert Willow Elementary School and Lone Mountain Elementary School, both have a GreatSchools rating of 9. Annunciation Catholic School is also situated in Cave Creek.
Principal employment in Cave Creek includes finance, management, retail and allied services, engineering, IT and education, as well as local tourism and the government sector. Being in fairly close proximity to the cities of Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria and Scottsdale means that Cave Creek naturally acts as an outlying commuter suburb for the most prominent industries and occupations to be found in those cities in Maricopa County.
The I-17 S via either E Cave Creek Road or the E Carefree Highway will get you into Glendale in under 45 minutes. A commute to Phoenix is best taken with either the AZ-51 S or I-17 S via E Cave Creek Road and should also take about 45 minutes or less. Scottsdale can be reached via N Scottsdale Road and the Loop 101 E freeway in under 40 minutes. The same route onto Tempe should take about 46 minutes.
